Dodge departed from the NASCAR circuit back in 2012, but it is apparently eyeing a return to the left-turn loving motorsport. Now it's a different time and, according to Autoweek, that means the automaker is on the verge of announcing that it is jumping back in the game.

NASCAR officials have stated that a new manufacturer is in talks to join the fray, but won't specify which one just yet. Based on this report, it seems like it's Dodge.

DETROIT, Nov. 24, 2016 - Ford Motor Company - the driving force behind America's Thanksgiving Parade®- today rolled out its new Mobility One float as part of the parade's 90th anniversary celebration.  Mobility One is more than 90 feet long and features a timeline view of the company's rich history of innovation. The float was pulled by a new Ford F-Series Super Duty truck, one of more than 40 Ford vehicles leading the festivities through downtown Detroit. Eight-time Olympic swimming medalist Allison Schmitt, a native of Canton, Michigan, rode on the float, while dozens of Ford Volunteer Corps members walked alongside. Ford's investment in the parade is part of its broad commitment to supporting events that bring communities together.

The Dodge Charger Daytona was launched at Woodward, with the  Dodge Challenger T/A. The order bank was open in October, for buying the car either with the "new traditional" 5.7 Hemi or the 6.4 Hemi option ("Charger Daytona 392").

Based on the R/T, the Dodge Charger Daytona adds a 2.75 inch active exhaust system, cold air intake, 2.62 rear gear set, Super Track Pak, SRT body bits including the front and rear fascia, side sills, rear spoiler, and hood, graphics, 20 inch wheels, and heated/cooled logo-embroidered Nappa leather seats, for $40,895 (with destination).

Moving up to the 392 means getting a car based on the Scat Pack, with the add-ons of the standard Charger Daytona package plus Hellcat tires and a 180 mph speedometer. The 485-horsepower Charger Daytona 392 starts at $46,090 including destination.

Reports from Canada indicate that the Charger Daytona is now being produced, so buyers should be seeing them any day now - depending on how long it takes them to travel. Since they won't be under their own power, but hopping the train or hitching a lift on a truck, that may take some time.

FCA #1 in Light Truck Sales... Again

For the second month in a row, FCA US sold more light trucks (minivans, vans, SUVs, and pickups) than Ford or General Motors.

The tally was 170,277 for FCA, 167,433 for Ford, and 166,647 for GM.

Ford to Invest $1.6 Billion

Ford said Tuesday it will invest $1.4 billion to overhaul its Livonia Transmission Plant so it can build an all-new transmission for its F-150 pickups and will also invest $200 million to add a production line at its Ohio Assembly Plant.

The $1.6-billion investments at the two plants are part of commitments the automaker made as part of its new four-year contract with UAW last fall to invest $9 billion and create or retain 8,500 hourly jobs in its U.S. facilities during the next four years.

It is the second time this month Ford has announced big investment plans for southeast Michigan. The automaker said earlier this month it was embarking on a 10-year plan to upgrade and consolidate dozens of research and engineering offices in Dearborn and to renovate its world headquarters building.

More praise for Jeeps and Durango

The Jeep Grand Cherokee, which has won more awards than any other SUV, bested the Dodge Journey,Volkswagen Touareg, Toyota 4Runner, Nissan XTerra, Kia Sorento,

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Nissan Murano and Ford Edge in the mid-size SUV class.

Car & Driver's editors said: "Whether you want to climb a mountain or just move up the ladder of success, the Grand Cherokee has you covered. With a choice of four 4×4 systems plus an optional Quadra-Lift air suspension, there's no obstacle too difficult to tackle."

In the 3-row category, the Dodge Durango was judged the best of the bunch. It beat the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Pathfinder, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Ford Flex, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot.

"The Durango remains big, brawny, and masculine in an era of soft, curvaceous crossovers, but it's not as truck like as other large sport-utes…The V-6 models are enough for most, with smooth acceleration, while Hemi models deliver excellent torque, especially handy for towing."

Consumer Reports crowns Ram diesel as best pickup

The Ram 1500 with the V-6 EcoDiesel engine not only saved substantially more fuel than similar models with gas engines, but did better in road tests than the others as well. It scored 82 in road tests, a point better than a Ram with gas engine that was tested previously.

The EcoDiesel averaged 20 miles per gallon in overall testing and 27 mpg on the highway, well above the Ram with the V-8 gas engine or Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT

"These are about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a mid-sized SUV," says Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, in a statement. "Ram is currently the only truck to offer turbo-diesel technology. It will be interesting to see what impact it will have on the half-ton truck market.".

But the EcoDiesel is also is priced higher, a factor that Consumer Reports says it doesn't take into effect in rendering scores.

Consumer Reports' testing is considered critical to automakers because or the magazine's notorious independence. It buys its vehicles, for instance, at dealerships rather than depending on loaners from automakers for its testing.

Ford Tops Ranking of Best Global Green Brands

Ford Motor Company was recognized today for its commitment to sustainability, ranking No. 1 on Interbrand's 2014 list of the 50 Best Global Green Brands. The automaker beat out last year's winner- Toyota - along with corporate heavy-weights Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola and Microsoft.

Ford claimed the top spot for its forward-thinking approach to environmentally responsible and sustainable manufacturing, greater transparency about its business operations, and for disclosure of information, particularly in the area of manufacturing. Ford's focus on water, highlighted in the company's recently released 15th annual Sustainability Report, as well as its waste-reduction and green building efforts, contributed to the company's rise to the top.

"We are honored to be named No. 1 in the 2014 Best Global Green Brands," said Robert Brown, vicepresident, Sustainability, Environment & Safety Engineering. "At Ford we are working to develop the highest-quality products in the market for our customers while manufacturing them in the most environmentally responsible manner and replicating this globally. This award tells us that our stakeholders agree."

"Over the past few years, Ford has proven to be a sustainability leader," noted Jez Frampton, Interbrand's Global Chief Executive Officer. "Sustainability is fully integrated into Ford's overall business strategy. As such, the company is able to swiftly identify and address its impact on the environment and society across every facet of its operations. Continuing to invest in alternative energy sources and fuel-saving technologies - and educating consumers on its benefits, will be key to enhancing its business and brand value over time."

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 15, 2015 - Fortune has named Ford Motor Company as one of its 2015 Blue Ribbon Companies, a ranking of the best organizations that are "firing on all cylinders" and have been recognized on four or more Fortune lists in 2015.

Ford -- the only automaker on the Blue Ribbon list -- has appeared on four Fortune lists this year: Ford was No. 42 on Change the World, No. 27 on the Global 500; No. 9 on the Fortune 500; and No. 6 in the motor vehicles industry on the list of the World's Most Admired Companies.

This year's Blue Ribbon Companies ranking is comprised of 25 companies -- the most in any year.

Fuel economy of new vehicles bought hits all-time high

The fuel economy of light vehicles purchased in the U.S. during August hit an all-time high, a University of Michigan report said Thursday.

The average window-sticker rating of cars, SUVs, vans and pickups purchased last month was 25.8 mpg, up from 25.6 in July and up even more significantly from 24.9 a year ago, according to the monthly report.

Average stated fuel economy has increased 5.7 mpg since the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute's first full month of monitoring in October 2007, the report said.

Another study by the institute tracked June's average greenhouse gas emissions of each new-vehicle driver in the country. The Eco-Driving Index dropped to 0.78, tying the record low, from 0.79 in May, the report said. June, the most recent month for which data is available, was the fifth time greenhouse gas emissions had reached the record low in the last year.

A lower index score is better, and the scores are compared with a base score of 1 in October 2007, when the data collection began. The study found that emissions of greenhouse gases per driver of newly purchased vehicles decreased 22 percent since that time.

Chrysler Group may have found a hit with the light-duty diesel engines

The number of buyers opting for the 240-horsepower V-6 EcoDiesel is substantial enough that Chrysler is asking its Italian supplier, a Fiat subsidiary, to send more of the engines, Automotive News reports.

When the engines came out last year, it marked a return of the small-diesel option, which has strong towing capability and better fuel economy than a gas engine. Diesels have long been available in heavy-duty pickups. It's a $2,850 option above the also optional Hemi V-8, and $4,500 beyond the price of the base engine, a gas V-6.

The engine delivers about 30% better gas mileage than a similar-sized gas engine

The News says engine maker VM Motori has the capacity to make 100,000 diesels a year. Half of them could come to the U.S.
